North Somerset Green Party

The North Somerset Green Party is having a busy 2008, supporting Congresbury Green Party councillor Tom Leimdorfer, building support for the European elections in June 2009, the General Election, and looking ahead to the Council elections in 2011.

Our campaigning priorities are: 

• Warmer, less polluting homes through cheaper insulation for everyone and help for people to use renewable energy, such as wood heating and solar (see what Yorkshire Greens are doing here on YouTube)
• Affordable housing (see Oxford Greens on YouTube)
• More sustainable Transport, especially car sharing, walking and cycling. We oppose expansion of Bristol Airport
• Better support for young people, vulnerable adults and older people.
• Protecting services in rural areas.

We've selected Dr Richard Lawson to stand in Weston-super-Mare at the next General Election. He's also on the list of candidates for the 2009 European Election. You can see his webpage here.

We welcome people from across the district, though most of us live in four wards: Congresbury, Banwell & Winscombe, Blagdon & Churchill and Yatton. We also have increasing interest in Clevedon. We're likely to be most active in these places in the next few years.
