South West Green Party

David Taylor

David Taylor David Taylor has been a member of the Green Party since 1973, and for three years in the 1990s was one of the party's national Principal Speakers. He was the lead candidate for the South West during the European elections in 1999 and 2004, and also stood in 2009 but, with a young family and business commitments, took a supporting role. He is a former SW director of the 'no' campaign, which opposed British entry to the euro, and has worked as senior assistant to an Independent MEP sitting on the Budgetary Control and Fisheries committees.

David Taylor discusses nuclear power and the planning bill on the Politics Show SW, BBC.

Recently, David has trained as a facilitator of the 'Change the Dream' symposium, a multi-media presentation about the crises facing the world and the ability and potential of humanity to meet that challenge. David believes that the rising interest in green issues offers the Green Party a unique opportunity in future elections in the South West, where at the last European election the region achieved the highest percentage of Green votes outside London and the South East.

David is particularly interested in the following policy areas:

  • Energy
  • Economics
  • Lifestyle politics
