Ricky Knight sings "United States"

Ricky explains how this recording came about:

"I rate this as one of the best anti-war songs of all time - and I know a few! Up there with the Greats. There are a mass of words there: every line a gem - it's such an emotionally-charged song; gets me going every time.

Seize the Day are just incomparably brilliant, a unique blend of good-time rhythms, musical dexterity, lyrical ingenuity, bitter-sweet humour and POLITICS.

Hearing them play is inspirational enough - but hearing them play is a big step up. I caught them in March, playing to a heaving audience in Totnes - just fantastic.

But it was last December in London at the Climate Change demo, as we turned into Parliament Square - imagine the pleasure of seeing them playing to the assembling crowd right outside the House on a trailer, just a stone's throw from Brian Haw's tent! So I plucked up courage and caught up with Theo and Shannon backstage and asked permission to have a go at recording 'United States'. Theo was up for it - and this is the result. Never easy to stick your finger in the ear and sing acapella but.......well, have a listen."
